TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully, as they apply to all bookings, purchases and participation in activities provided by Game Over Coimbra. By booking, purchasing or participating in any indoor or outdoor activity provided by BUTTAFUOCO & FERREIRA, LDA., under the Game Over Coimbra brand, the customer declares that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
1. Participation and liability
Participants freely and knowingly agree to take part in the games and other activities at their own risk and undertake to take all necessary precautions to ensure their own safety and that of the other participants. During outdoor activities, participants must comply with all rules applicable to the use of public spaces, including:
- Traffic signs and regulations;
- Pedestrian rules;
- Instructions issued by the authorities;
- Restrictions on access to certain locations;
- Instructions provided by Game Over Coimbra staff;
- Any other applicable safety regulations.
Without prejudice to any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, Game Over Coimbra and its representatives, employees or agents shall not be held liable for injuries, losses or damage resulting from wilful misconduct, negligence, misuse of equipment or failure by a participant to comply with the rules. This provision applies to incidents occurring: At the Game Over Coimbra premises, located at Avenida Fernão de Magalhães, No.491, 3000-177 Coimbra, Portugal, during indoor games, during outdoor activities, and t any other location where activities provided by Game Over Coimbra take place. Game Over Coimbra does not guarantee that its content, materials or equipment will be entirely free from errors or interruptions where such situations result from misuse, wilful misconduct or negligence on the part of a participant.
2. Health and safety conditions
Participants are responsible for their physical condition, health and personal safety while taking part in the activities. The games may include confined spaces, low lighting, sound or visual effects, stairs, obstacles, surprise elements, horror-themed settings or other situations that may cause anxiety, fear or discomfort. Before the activity begins, participants must inform staff of any condition that may affect their participation or safety, including:
- Heart conditions;
- Epilepsy;
- Claustrophobia;
- Allergies;
- Serious visual impairments;
- Mobility difficulties;
- Pregnancy;
- Any other relevant medical condition.
Each participant is responsible for assessing whether they are physically and psychologically fit to take part in the activity and, whenever necessary, should seek medical advice before participating. Game Over Coimbra shall not be held responsible for the transmission of illnesses between participants. Each person is responsible for taking the health, hygiene and protection measures they consider appropriate.
3. Compliance with rules and instructions
Participants undertake to carry out the activities in accordance with the rules and instructions provided by Game Over Coimbra’s staff, representatives or agents. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in:
- Refusal of access to the activity;
- Immediate termination of the game;
- Removal from the premises;
- Notification of the incident to the relevant authorities, where necessary.
No refund shall be issued where an activity is terminated due to inappropriate behaviour, failure to comply with the rules, a safety risk or refusal to follow staff instructions.
4. Personal belongings and lockers
Before indoor activities begin, all personal items and belongings must be placed in the lockers provided for this purpose. The following items are strictly prohibited inside the game rooms:
- Mobile phones;
- Smartwatches;
- Cameras;
- Recording devices;
- Other electronic devices;
- Torches or other light-emitting devices;
- Equipment that may interfere with the activity.
Properly authorised medical devices are exempt from this restriction, provided that staff are informed in advance of the need to use them. Participants are entirely responsible for the care and security of their personal belongings. Without prejudice to any liability imposed by law, Game Over Coimbra and its employees and agents shall not be held responsible for the loss, damage, theft or misplacement of personal belongings, whether inside or outside the premises.
5. Photographs, videos and recordings
Unless expressly authorised by Game Over Coimbra, taking photographs, filming or making audio recordings during the games is prohibited. If an unauthorised recording is detected, staff may ask the participant to stop recording immediately and delete the relevant content, without prejudice to any other measures permitted by law. The capture and use of photographs or videos officially produced by Game Over Coimbra shall be governed by the consent provided by participants and by the applicable legislation concerning data protection and image rights.
6. Dangerous objects and substances
It is prohibited to carry or bring any dangerous objects or substances onto the premises or into the activities, including:
- Weapons;
- Explosives;
- Flammable substances;
- Sharp objects;
- Illegal substances;
- Any items that may place people, equipment or facilities at risk.
If any such objects or substances are found, staff may refuse entry or require the participant to leave immediately, as well as contact the relevant authorities.
7. Alcohol and drugs
Participation in the activities while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other substances that may impair physical ability, judgement or behaviour is not permitted. Game Over Coimbra reserves the right to refuse entry to, or terminate the participation of, anyone who appears to be under the influence of such substances, without entitlement to a refund.
8. Use of equipment and facilities
Participants undertake to use the facilities, sets, puzzles, furniture, mechanisms and equipment with the utmost care. This obligation also applies to equipment used during outdoor activities, including:
- iPads;
- Action Packs;
- Padlocks;
- Electronic devices;
- Gadgets;
- Maps;
- Supporting materials;
- Any other items provided to participants.
Participants may be held liable for damage caused intentionally or through clearly improper use. Game Over Coimbra may claim compensation corresponding to the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged items, in accordance with the applicable law.
9. Rules of conduct
Behaviour that jeopardises the safety, well-being or dignity of staff, customers or other users shall not be tolerated. The following are expressly prohibited:
- Bullying;
- Harassment;
- Threats;
- Insults;
- Assault;
- Discrimination;
- Excessive noise;
- Intentional damage;
- Behaviour that disrupts the normal operation of the premises or activities.
Game Over Coimbra reserves the right to require customers who engage in inappropriate behaviour to leave immediately, without entitlement to a refund.
10. Confidentiality and game secrets
Participants acknowledge that the stories, puzzles, solutions, mechanisms, sets and other elements of the games constitute confidential information and the intellectual property of their respective owners. Participants undertake not to disclose, publish or share, in whole or in part, any information that could undermine or compromise the experience of future players. Game Over Coimbra encourages participants to share their opinions about the experience, provided they do not reveal solutions, puzzles, mechanisms, surprises or any other confidential elements of the games.
11. Intellectual property
The modification, copying, distribution, transmission, display, reproduction, publication, licensing, commercialisation or creation of derivative works based on content belonging to Game Over Coimbra is prohibited without prior written authorisation. The trademarks, trade names, logos, images, content and materials displayed on the premises, in the games, in promotional materials and on digital platforms are the property of their respective owners and may not be used without prior written authorisation.
12. Bookings
Only persons aged 18 or over may make a booking. The customer is responsible for:
- Entering the correct information in the booking form;
- Confirming the date, time, activity and number of participants;
- Ensuring that all information provided is true and complete;
- Providing advance notice of any condition that may affect the participants’ safety;
- Arriving with the amount of advance notice stated in the booking confirmation.
By submitting the online booking form, the customer confirms that all information provided is true and accurate. Requests for refunds, cancellations or changes relating to booking errors, late arrivals or failure to attend shall be handled in accordance with the conditions set out in this document.
13. Late arrivals and failure to attend
Participants must arrive at the time stated in the booking confirmation. Late arrival may result in the duration of the game being reduced or, where it would affect subsequent bookings, make it impossible for the activity to take place. Failure to attend or the inability to take part in the game due to a significant delay does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund or rescheduling.
14. Rescheduling and cancellations
Requests to reschedule or cancel made at least two days before the date of the game shall not be subject to additional charges. Where a request is made after this deadline, the following conditions shall apply:

These conditions apply to both indoor games and outdoor activities. For outdoor activities, weather conditions do not automatically entitle the customer to reschedule or receive a full refund. The customer is responsible for checking the weather forecast and requesting any changes within the deadlines stated above. Game Over Coimbra may cancel or reschedule an activity where technical, operational, weather-related or safety reasons prevent it from taking place. In such cases, the customer shall be offered an appropriate solution in accordance with the applicable law.
15. Participation of minors
The participation of minors is subject to authorisation from their parents or legal guardians. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by at least one adult aged 18 or over in each game. The accompanying adult shall be considered a participant and shall count towards the maximum number of participants permitted in the room or activity. Although children are permitted to participate, Game Over Coimbra recommends that participants be at least 16 years old due to the difficulty of the games and the characteristics of certain settings. Game Over Coimbra staff are not responsible for supervising or caring for children. This responsibility lies exclusively with the accompanying adults, who must ensure the safety and appropriate behaviour of the minors.
16. Birthday celebrations and use of the lobby
Game Over Coimbra’s premises are not intended to host full birthday parties. A brief celebration with a birthday cake may be permitted in the lobby, which is a shared area used by all customers, during the following times:
- Weekdays: between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.;
- Weekends and public holidays: between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
Any celebration is subject to the availability of the space and the instructions provided by staff. The customer must ensure that the celebration does not cause excessive noise, inappropriate behaviour or disruption to the normal operation of the premises. Game Over Coimbra reserves the right to require customers to leave immediately in the event of excessive noise, inappropriate behaviour or disruption to the normal operation of the premises.
17. Birthday discount
The birthday offer is valid during the seven days before and the seven days after the participant’s date of birth, including the birthday itself. The discount is subject to the following conditions:
- It may only be used once per day and per person;
- If the birthday participant makes more than one booking on the same day, the discount may only be applied to one activity;
- Only one birthday discount is permitted per room;
- The group must include at least five participants;
- When making the booking, the customer must book for one participant fewer than the actual number attending;
- On the day of the game, the birthday participant must present a valid identification document;
- The discount must be requested when making the booking or in person before the game begins;
- The discount cannot be applied retrospectively after the activity has taken place.
The discount cannot be combined with other campaigns, promotions, codes or offers unless expressly stated otherwise.
18. Food and beverages
Bringing food or beverages into the game rooms or any other areas where indoor activities take place is strictly prohibited. Food or beverages may only be brought into the lobby with prior authorisation from staff, namely in connection with a brief birthday celebration.
19. Website and accuracy of information
Game Over Coimbra makes reasonable efforts to ensure that the information provided on its website, booking platforms and at the activity locations is accurate and up to date. In the event of any discrepancy, the specific conditions presented during the booking process and these Terms and Conditions shall prevail, without prejudice to the customer’s statutory rights. The Game Over Coimbra website and digital platforms, or any part thereof, may not be used for fraudulent, illegal, defamatory, harmful or obscene purposes, or in any manner likely to cause damage to the company or third parties.
20. Payments and information security
Game Over Coimbra shall take appropriate measures to protect the personal and payment information provided by customers. However, customers acknowledge that no system for transmitting or storing information over the Internet is entirely secure. Personal and payment information shall be processed in accordance with the applicable legislation and the Privacy Policy in force.
21. Limitation of liability
Without prejudice to any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, BUTTAFUOCO & FERREIRA, LDA. and Game Over Coimbra shall not be liable for indirect or incidental damage, loss of opportunity, loss of profits, loss of data, business interruption or the cost of replacement services resulting from the improper use of the premises, games, equipment or website. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any mandatory consumer rights or any liability that cannot be validly excluded or limited under Portuguese law.
22. Amendments to the Terms and Conditions
BUTTAFUOCO & FERREIRA, LDA. reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions periodically, as well as the content and characteristics of the activities. Any amendments shall apply from the date of their publication, without prejudice to the conditions applicable to bookings made before that date. Customers are advised to review these Terms and Conditions before each booking.
23. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions and any contracts entered into under them shall be governed by Portuguese law. In the event of a dispute, the dispute resolution mechanisms and competent courts established under Portuguese law shall apply.
24. Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions
By making a booking or participating in an indoor or outdoor activity, the customer and the remaining participants declare that they:
- Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions;
- Agree to comply with all rules and instructions;
- Are participating freely and knowingly;
- Accept responsibility for their conduct;
- Shall take all necessary precautions to ensure their own safety and that of the other participants;
- Shall provide advance notice of any health condition or limitation relevant to their safety.
Participation in any activity provided by Game Over Coimbra implies full knowledge and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
